Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear or bring to my first horseback riding session?

Comfortable, fitted clothing, boots with a slight heel. Our program will provide helmets if you do not have a helmet of your own.

Do I need prior horseback riding experience to participate?

No previous experience is required! The Horses of Honor Equine Program is designed for riders of all skill levels, especially beginners, and instructors will guide you step-by-step through the basics.

Can families who previously participated in the Horses of Honor Grant Program apply again?

No. This grant is only available to families who have not received services through MET’s Horses of Honor Grant Program in previous years. This policy allows us to expand access and serve new military-connected families each year.
